“Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it.” – Soren Kierkegaard

The Go Beyond Your Limits 2 walk was a great success on many levels. First and foremost, the walk, coupled with a well-organized online auction, raised $2025 for a very worthy Chatham-Kent charity, Outreach For Hunger.

But beyond the monetary benefits provided by the walk, the participants also reaped the health benefits associated with challenging themselves both mentally and physically. Whether their goals were endurance- or recreationally-related, everyone benefitted greatly.

During the event, 15 people walked a combined total of 273km and enjoyed a combined total of 70 hours of exercise.

Rod Wellington achieved his goal of walking 100km in less than 24 hours (250 laps in 23½ hours). By a margin of 45km, he surpassed his previous personal best one-day walking milestone of 55km – set during the first Go Beyond Your Limits walk.

Other high achievers in the Go Beyond Your Limits 2 walk included Annette Nealey and Rod Wellington’s 13-year-old great-nephew, Alex Formosa. Both set personal one-day bests of 30km and 50km respectively. Other notable walkers were Terilyn Bourdeau (22km), Ian Formosa (15km), Marc Rheault (11km), Robert Wellington (11km), Mario Formosa (10km) and Marg Rheault (10km).
